Bread for Dogs


One of the most troubling narratives in the gospels comes up this Sunday:


At the beginning of the week it's good to ask, What do we make of Jesus' apparently harsh interaction with this Gentile woman?

I love this account because it is so surprising, and this woman's comeback seems to catch Jesus, but he doesn't seem to miss a beat, he goes where she calls him! It reminds me of the interaction with the Samaritain woman in John, only somehow reversed - I think the woman brought the living water this time!
